“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
— Maya Angelou
Writing, writing, writing. It all comes back to writing. And family. And living life. And being comfortable being myself. As I enter this next chapter of my life, I’m looking for a way to support myself that keeps me engaged while I’m at work and allows me to refresh myself the other 128 hours a week.
As a writer, I’m chiefly concerned with finding a job that allows for life-work balance. I work to live, not live to work, and my life outside of work influences the services I am able to offer at any given time. However, that does not mean that I am incapable of committing completely to a full and detailed job description.
On the contrary, a full and detailed job description is extremely helpful in setting up the framework needed to ensure that all of the background processes that often flow through an executive assistant role are flowing smoothly and without unnecessary interruption. It also helps me self-assess my effectiveness as a service provider at regular intervals and track changes in my role and improvement in my skills as well as identify areas where additional training or direction is needed. When you hire me, you don’t just hire a writer or an administrative professional. You hire the entire person: curious, creative, committed, and a little bit comedic. My goal is always to plan the work and work the plan, and to always keep an eye out for improvements to be made along the way.
While others may be preoccupied with advancing to the next step every few years, I’m more concerned with finding the right fit: a role where I am valued for the robust human intelligence that I bring to the table, which is something that artificial intelligence can support but simply cannot duplicate. If you think I might be the right fit for your team, I would love to hear from you.
